Lexington County school evacuated Friday for bomb threat, students safely returned

Students at a Lexington County elementary school were briefly evacuated after a bomb threat was called in Friday morning.

Around 9:45 a.m., officials at Forts Pond Elementary School in Pelion received a bomb threat, according to Lexington 1 school district spokesperson Mary Beth Hill.

Pelion police and the State Law Enforcement Division were called to the school, and students were evacuated and relocated to Pelion High School.

All Pelion schools were placed on lockdown while law enforcement investigated the bomb threat.

By noon, students were transported back to Forts Pond, Hill said.
