Vehicle flipped, driver killed on Christmas, Richland coroner says

A person who died in a wreck on Christmas has been identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

Robert Tyrone Myers was the victim of the collision that happened about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in Eastover, according to Coroner Gary Watts.

The 46-year-old Myers was driving on Old Eastover Road when he went off the road and struck a light pole near Zeigler Road, Watts said.

Myers’ vehicle overturned and he was thrown out of the vehicle. Myers was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, Watts said.

An autopsy showed that the cause of death was blunt trauma of the head and neck, Watts said.

The coroner’s office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the wreck.
