Fiery crash shuts down both lanes of I-77 South

A fiery crash shut down both southbound lanes of Interstate 77 Saturday morning.

The crash occurred shortly before 8 a.m. one mile north of Exit 2 near the 12th Street extension in Cayce.

Firefighters could be seen hosing down the burnt hulk of a vehicle in the median as traffic backed up past the Congaree River into Richland County.

The lanes were reopened by 9:39 a.m., according to the S.C. Department of Transportation.
