Woman killed when tree falls on Midlands house, pinning her beneath it
An Irmo woman died Friday night after a tree fell on her house.
Gertraud Maria Walker, 62, was in her bedroom when a tree fell across her Beechwood Lane house around 8 p.m., according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.
Walker was pinned underneath the fallen tree and died of traumatic asphyxiation at the scene, Watts said.
