Man walking on Lexington County road hit and killed

A man walking in the roadway around 10 p.m. Thursday night was hit by a car and killed, according to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.

Willie Lee Simmons, 52, of Lexington, was struck near the intersection of Boiling Springs Road and Bethany Church Road, according to the coroner. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and was not injured, according to the coroner’s office.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
