SC Midlands man dies after moped crash
A Lexington County man has died as a result of a Saturday evening moped crash, officials said.
David Welborn, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene after veering into oncoming traffic and being struck by a car, according to a news release from Lexington County Coroner’s office. There were two people in the car, but neither were injured, according to the release.
The accident happened at 6:40 p.m. Saturday night at the intersection of North Lake Drive and Jakes Landing Road, which is near the southeastern part of Lake Murray, according to the release.
Welborn was not wearing a helmet, according to the release.
