Think you have COVID-19 in SC? You can talk to a medical expert for free from home
As the state sees its first possible cases of coronavirus, the Medical University of South Carolina is offering a free way for people with flu-like symptoms to get free access to a healthcare professional.
Rather than going into see a doctor, the program is done completely online. There, a medical professional will do an initial screening to decide whether a person needs to be tested for coronavirus. They can also point patients to online information that can help them quarantine themselves, Ed O’Bryan, MUSC’s director of virtual care, said at a Saturday press conference.
If MUSC’s experts think a patient might have coronavirus, they can send a medical professional to the patient’s house to conduct a test. This prevents a patient from possibly spreading coronavirus at a doctor’s office while waiting for an appointment.
Here is how to get the free consultation:
- Go to musc.care
- Create an account
- Use promo code COVID19 at the payment section
