A 25-year-old South Carolina woman died Sunday after plummeting over the edge of a waterfall, the Pickens County Coroner’s Office said.

Taylor Coleman was camping with friends when she fell over the edge at Laurel Forks Falls in Sunset, Coroner Kandy Kelley said in a news release.

Emergency responders in a boat and an ATV could not get to the remote spot in Lake Jocasse where Coleman fell, and a helicopter rescue team was called to aid in her recovery, WYFF reported.

The Simpsonville woman was taken to an area hospital where she died, according to the release.

Coleman was at the top of the falls when she fell at 2 a.m., the coroner’s office reported.

The falls are 80-feet high, according to South Carolina Trails. It is about 140 miles northwest of Columbia.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, Kelley said.

Members of the National Guard, South Carolina Fire Emergency Response team aided in the search, along with first responders from Pickens and Oconee counties, per WYFF.
