One person dead after a mobile home fire near Pelion



One person died Thursday night in a mobile home fire near Pelion.

The fire occurred in the 500 block of Tindal Road just before 11:30 p.m., according to a Lexington County press release.

When firefighters arrived, the mobile home was fully engulfed in heavy flames, the release said.

Firefighters put out the fire, then found the body.

“It is believed that the individual was the sole occupant of the home and no other injuries were reported,” the release said.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the cause, the release said. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the victim and the cause of death.
