These Columbia, Lexington restaurants will be open this weekend for outdoor dining
South Carolina restaurants were allowed to reopen for outdoor dining starting May. 4.
S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster lifted the restriction on outdoor dining with the caveat that patrons must still maintain appropriate social distancing, ideally 6 feet or more.
Indoor dining is still prohibited, as the state takes incremental steps to reopen businesses while the coronavirus continues to spread.
Some restaurants have chosen not to reopen immediately. Some will continue doing takeout and deliveries only, as they have for the past few weeks.
Motor Supply Co. in the Vista will not be opening for outdoor dining at this time.
“It’s too soon,” owner Eddie Wales said. “We don’t feel comfortable right now. Plus carry out has been tremendous.”
Kristian Niemi, who owns Black Rooster in West Columbia and Bourbon on Main Street, said he will not be open for outdoor dining at this time.
But some restaurants are ready to welcome you to their patios, sidewalks, beer gardens and balconies.
