Lexington County man charged with attempted murder of his father

A Lexington County man has been charged with the attempted murder of his father.

Michael Rashaan Stone, 25, is charged with attempted murder, discharging a weapon into a dwelling and possessing a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants.

Stone is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.

The shooting happened early Sunday morning at their Chason Road home, according to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon.

“Based on detectives’ review of the evidence, Stone and his dad got into an argument very late Saturday night,” Koon said. “Apparently, Stone was intoxicated when he grabbed a rifle and fired a shot that struck his dad in the upper body,” Koon said.

Stone’s father was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Stone stayed on the scene and spoke with responding deputies. Then, deputies arrested him after executing a search warrant inside the home, Koon said.
