Downtown Columbia arcade-bar finally set to open

Transmission Arcade, downtown Columbia’s only official arcade-bar combo, is finally set to open after more than a year of planning.

Starting next week, Transmission will be open for two-hour private arcade sessions for groups of up to 20 people. There is no minimum number of people needed to reserve the arcade.

A two-hour session will cost $100 total and include unlimited free game play. The bar and kitchen — manned by Smokey Loggins barbecue chefs — will be open for orders.

Smokey Loggins also will be doing carry-out orders.

The arcade will be open for reservations Wednesdays through Saturdays to start, with several time slots available. Reservations can be made at TransmissionArcade.10to8.com. You can make reservations now for time slots beginning next week.

Smokey Loggins will be taking carryout orders this Friday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Wednesdays through Saturdays going forward. Orders can be made online at transmissionarcade.hrpos.heartland.us or by phone at (803)-667-9140.

Transmission Arcade is located at 1712 Main St., across the street from Columbia City Hall and the Richland County courthouse.

The arcade plans to transition later to full public access as the state’s situation with coronavirus infections progresses. “We can’t wait to see you flipping, button mashing, drinking and eating in here soon,” it said in a Facebook post.
