Body discovered after Midlands RV fire

Firefighters have found a body following an RV fire in the Midlands of South Carolina, officials said Friday.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to an RV on fire at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Leesburg Road east of Columbia. the department said Friday. The fire was contained to one RV and after it was extinguished, firefighters found a body in the destroyed RV.

Richland County coroner Gary Watts identified the victim as Ronald Dean Bunch, 69, of Eastover, South Carolina. Watts said in a statement that Bunch died of thermal injuries due to a flash fire.

The incident remains under investigation, Watts added.
