UPDATE: Missing teen girl found safe in Richland County, sheriff’s department says

The search for a missing Columbia teenager ended Monday morning when she was found, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

After not being seen at her home for 10 days, Mia Washington was found safe in Richland County, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Information on where she was, or if she was with anyone else, was not available.

The 14-year-old ran away from her Montgomery Avenue home on July 9, the sheriff’s department said Sunday. That’s in the Rosewood area, near Rosewood Park, Lester Bates Park, and Memorial Stadium.

According to the release, there was concern because the teen had not been active on her social media accounts.

The sheriff’s department thanked the community for its help in locating the teen.
