Richland 1 schools extend free meals program as schools move starting date

Richland 1 will be extending its summer meals program, the school district announced Thursday.

The meals program was initially supposed to end on Monday, July 27, but will now be active for another two weeks, according to a news release.

Families will be able to pick up seven days worth of food on Aug. 3 and Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the predetermined pickup locations. Caughman Road Elementary will no longer serve as a pickup site, according to the release.

The free meals plan was extended because the school board voted to move back the school start date until Aug. 31, according to the release.

The pickup locations are:

  • Lower Richland High
  • Southeast Middle
  • Eau Claire High
  • South Kilbourne Elementary
  • Hyatt Park Elementary
  • St. Andrews Middle
  • Carver-Lyon Elementary
