Roadwork begins near new Midlands elementary school

RockHill

Drivers in the Chapin area should be on the look out for road work near the site of a planned elementary school.

The S.C. Department of Transportation is set to begin work this week on Amicks Ferry Road. Road crews will be adding turn lanes near Lake Tide Drive for a future elementary school. Lexington-Richland 5 school district plans to open the school in the fall of 2021.

Road crews will be working in the area from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, according to a press release from Lexington-Richland 5. Construction is expected to be complete by October.

The work site is about three miles southwest of Chapin.
