Free fruits and vegetables available at popup market in Columbia

Columbia officials sent out an invitation to stock up on fruits and vegetables Tuesday.

A free popup market will make an assortment of “your favorite” produce available, city officials said in a news release.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon, and 400 boxes of fruits and vegetables will be there for the taking, according to the release.

The popup market is set up at the Drew Wellness Center at 2101 Walker Solomon Way. That’s just off of Harden Street, a half mile from the Benedict College campus.

Information about the census and a local food guide will be available at the giveaway that’s being hosted by Columbia’s Food Policy Committee.
