Forecast calls for 101 again Thursday

The thermostat registered 101 at Columbia’s Jim Hamilton L.B. Owens Downtown Airport shortly after 5 p.m., chasing a record 102 set for June 17, set in 1986.

It’s expected to be 101 degrees again on Thursday, then in the upper 90s through the weekend.

The bad news? The chance of rain has fallen considerably, to 30 percent or less for each of the next few days, from the 60 percent we thought we would see on Friday.
