Pedestrian dies after being struck three times near I-20

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating the death of an individual on I-20 after the victim was struck by three different vehicles.

The victim was identified as Alex Williams Jr., 63, of 2632 Flamingo Drive, Columbia, SC.

Lance Cpl. Judd Jones, a highway patrol spokesman, said the incident occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday evening when a motorist traveling on Highway 321 towards I-20 struck a pedestrian who was standing in the roadway.

Jones said the victim was then struck by two other vehicles traveling in the area after the initial collision. The highway patrol will continue to investigate the incident. Jones did not say if any of the drivers involved in the accident would receive charges. There were no other injuries reported in the incident.
