Road closures announced due to State House rally
The Columbia Police Department has announced road closures in relation to the State House rally that will be held Tuesday afternoon near the State House grounds.
Jennifer Timmons, a department spokeswoman, said Columbia police will assist the Bureau of Protective Services with traffic control during the rally. The 1100 and 1200 blocks of Gervais Street and the 1200 block of Main Street will be closed to traffic beginning at 10 a.m.
Timmons said after the rally, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., comes to a close, these areas will be reopened to traffic. Commuters planning on traveling in the area are advised to seek alternate routes and to be cautious of emergency service personnel and rally-goers that will be in the area.
