Confederate flag onlines sales at Amazon shoot up nearly 9,000 percent
Sales of Confederate flags skyrocketed Tuesday on Amazon’s website even as the online retailer joined merchants who decided to no longer offer them.
CBS News reports that sales of the most popular flag in Amazon’s Patio, Home and Garden category under its “movers and shakers” listing jumped 8,800 percent in the past 24 hours.
The sales happened before Amazon stopped offering shoppers any merchandise featuring the Confederate flag.
On Tuesday, Target, eBay, Sears and Etsy pulled the products from their websites following Monday’s announcement by Wal-Mart that it no longer would sell the flags in its stores or online.
A Pennsylvania-based flag manufacturer said it would not longer make Confederate flags.
