Vigil set Thursday for 3 Allen University alumni killed in Charleston church shootings

The public is invited to a vigil Thursday to honor three Allen University graduates killed in the June 17 shootings at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.

Allen University’s Pray for World Peace vigil is set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday in the John Hurst Gymnatorium, 1517 Pine St., Columbia.

The event will honor Daniel Lee Simmons Jr., Class of 1967; Sen. Clementa Pinckney, Class of 1995; and Tywanza Sanders, Class of 2014.
