Rock Hill man killed in collision on I-20

A Rock Hill man involved in a truck-versus-vehicle collision Wednesday night on I-20 near Gilbert has been identified, officials say.

Demetrius Emanuel Paige, 20, was killed in the accident which occurred around 8:30 p.m. at mile marker 45, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said in a statement released Thursday.

Paige was traveling eastbound on the interstate when his vehicle collided with a tractor trailer. The driver of the truck had stopped to assist another motorist on the highway. Paige, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident, Fisher said.

No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate.
