West Columbia man killed in car accident
The Lexington County coroner’s office has identified the man killed when he was thrown from his Jeep Cherokee in an accident Wednesday night as Michael Brian Chavis, 39, of West Columbia.
Chavis was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident on the 5200 block of the Edmund Highway near West Columbia, Margaret Fisher said in a news release.
Chavis was headed eastbound around 10 pm when his SUV ran off the right side of the road, hit a drain culvert and overturned, L. CPL. Hanna Wimberly of the SC Highwy Patrol said. Chavis, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from his vehicle, Wimberly said.
