Thursday night car crash in Florence County leaves one dead, police say

One person is dead and several are injured after an accident in Florence County.

The accident happened Thursday night at around 11:40 on Cale Yarborough Highway, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Nick Pye.

A car was headed north when it struck a pickup truck that was disabled on the side of the road from a previous accident. Three people were standing outside the pickup when the accident happened. One of those people suffered fatal injuries and the other two were taken to the hospital. The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital.

Police have not released the names of anyoen involved. The accident remains under investigation.
