Voters across the Midlands will go to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots in a number of local elections.

Perhaps the most visible of the races will be for Columbia mayor, where four hopefuls are vying to replace Mayor Steve Benjamin, who chose not to seek re-election this year. There are also two contested Columbia City Council races on the ballot, as well as an uncontested race in City Council District 4, where Joe Taylor is the only candidate on the ballot.

Voters in a number of other municipalities throughout Richland and Lexington counties also will go to the polls to elect various town and city leaders. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. To read more about the local elections, visit www.thestate.com/voter-guide.
