Law enforcement seeks two cars that struck, killed pedestrian in Columbia
Law enforcement is looking for two vehicles that struck and killed a pedestrian early Wednesday morning.
The drivers of two out of three cars fled the scene, Cpl. Matt Southern of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
Southern said the pedestrian was crossing Broad River Road at about 2:52 a.m. near Marley Drive and was first hit by a Nissan Maxima. Two other cars then hit the pedestrian as well.
The driver of the Nissan remained on the scene, Southern said.
S.C. Highway Patrol later identified one of the fleeing vehicles as a blue Hyundai Elantra, between the model years of 2010 and 2016. Investigators expect it will show damage to the left front side of the car and the underside of the front bumper, and may be missing the driver’s side fog lamp.
The other vehicle that left the scene is believed to be an unknown gray or silver four-door vehicle that would also show damage to the lower front bumper of the vehicle, Highway Patrol said.
The incident is under investigation by the Highway Patrol and its Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
