Coroner identifies man killed after being hit by three cars on Columbia road
The pedestrian who was killed after being hit by three cars in Columbia was identified Thursday as 44-year-old Elliott Farmer Jr.
Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford said Farmer lived in Columbia. He was crossing Broad River Road near Marley Drive at about 2:52 a.m. Wednesday when he was struck.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol announced Thursday they are looking for a blue Hyundai Elantra believed to have been one of two cars that fled the scene after the man was run over by three cars.
The driver of a Nissan Maxima, which was the first car to hit the man, remained on the scene. Two other cars hit the man afterwards.
Officers believe the Hyundai, a 2010 to 2016 model, has damage to the left front bumper and the trim underneath the bumper. Also, the fog lamp on the driver’s side might be missing.
The incident is under investigation by the Highway Patrol and its Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
