An overturned gas tanker has shut down a Midlands street early Friday morning.

The truck flipped over around 3 a.m. on Nursery Road near Fork Avenue, according to WACH FOX. That’s about a block south of Lake Murray Boulevard near Irmo, close to the entrance to a residential development.

The Irmo Fire Department told WIS TV the gas tank will have to be emptied, which could take much of the day Friday. The tanker is on its side and has a small leak, responders said. The cold air Friday morning eliminated the possible of vapors escaping, a fire official told WIS.

A second truck has been called in to extract the remaining fuel.
