Cayce Police are looking for this sedan in connection with a Nov. 11 hit-and-run incident in which a man was killed.

A man was killed Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in Cayce.

According to the Cayce Police Department, the incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday on the 1200 block of Frink Street. Witnesses told officers that a man was walking when a car hit him, then fled the scene toward the Charleston Highway.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as John Wesley Butler, 64, of Cayce. Coroner Margaret Fisher said he died at the scene.

Officers initially indicated that witnesses said a dark SUV hit Butler. However, a Cayce spokeswoman said Friday morning that officers determined that a light colored sedan struck the pedestrian. Officials said the sedan would likely have front end, center of the hood and undercarriage damage.

Police were reconstructing the accident scene and reviewing video surveillance footage Thursday night.

Those with information about the incident are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC. Cayce police said tips could result in a cash reward.
