The Lexington Police Department’s annual Christmas toy drive begins Monday.

The department is asking for people to fill a large police vehicle with toys through mid-December. The donated toys will go to Toys for Tots for distribution. Toys for Tots is a program run by the U.S. Marine Corps to collect new toys and give them to children.

Toys can be donated on these dates at these locations:

Nov. 29-Dec. 14 at The Lexington Police Department, 111 Maiden Lane

Dec. 1 at Walmart, 5556 Sunset Blvd.

Dec. 6 at Lexington Pavilion, 5119 Sunset Blvd.

Dec. 7 at Walmart, 5556 Sunset Blvd.

Dec. 8 at Lexington Pavilion, 5119 Sunset Blvd.

Dec. 9 at Walmart, 5556 Sunset Blvd.

Dec. 13 at Lexington Pavilion, 5119 Sunset Blvd.

Dec. 14 at Learning Express, 5175 Sunset Blvd., suite 12

On the Learning Express donation days, the store will give a 25% discount on toys that will be donated, the police department said. The store also will give customers a 25% “comeback coupon” that can be used in January. Learning Express will donate $500 worth of toys to the department.

The police department also is accepting cash and check donations to be used for purchasing toys.
