Food, Santa and the Root Doctors: Forest Acres to light holiday tree. Details here

The holidays will officially get going Tuesday night in Forest Acres.

The city of Forest Acres will host its annual Sweet Seasons holiday tree lighting event from 5:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Forest Park Shopping Center at 4711 Forest Drive.

The tree will be lit shortly after 6 p.m., with Mayor Frank Brunson and Forest Acres City Council members on hand. The city is providing free hot chocolate and candy canes, while supplies last.

The Christmas celebration also will have free pictures with Santa, face painting, balloon and bubble artists and a roving magician for kids, per a release from the city.

There will be a number of food vendors at the event, including Boca Grande, Verde, Kudzu Bakery, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Schiano’s Pizza, Pawleys Front Porch and Billy G’s.

The Root Doctors — long billed the “funkiest band in the Southeast” — will take the stage at 7 p.m.
