The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the person who died in a two-car collision early Friday morning.

Coroner Margaret Fisher said 14-year-old Belinda Roblero-Perez of Leesville died at the scene when she was ejected from a car that overturned after being struck from the side.

Several people were taken to a hospital after the two cars collided in Lexington County early Friday morning.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Pond Branch Road and Neely Wingard Road in Gilbert, near the on-ramp to Interstate 20.

A woman driving a Chevy Tahoe with four passengers was crossing Pond Branch Road when her SUV was struck in the side by a man driving a Ford minivan, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper David Jones.

The Tahoe ran off the road and overturned, ejecting two of the occupants, including Roblero-Perez who died at the scene of the crash, Jones said. The coroner said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

The driver of the SUV and the three other passengers were taken to an area hospital, as was the driver of the minivan.

The crash is being investigated by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
