A person in a wheelchair dies after being struck by two cars near Orangeburg
A person in a motorized wheelchair died Saturday night after being struck by two vehicles while attempting to cross South Carolina Highway 33 near Orangeburg.
The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has not announced the person’s name.
The two cars were a 2017 Toyota Corolla and a 2016 Hyundai sedan, both traveling north on Highway 33. The drivers were not injured, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
The incident happened at about 5:40 p.m. northeast of Orangeburg near Ruby Renette Road.
The Highway Patrol has not said whether anyone will face charges in the death.
