One dead after car hits a tree near Fort Jackson exit on Interstate 77
One person died in a single-car collision early Sunday morning on Interstate 77 in Richland County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Crown Vic with four occupants went off the roadway near the Fort Jackson exit and struck a tree. No one in the car was wearing a seatbelt, Master Trooper Brian Lee said.
The identity of the person who died, a passenger, had not been released by the Richland County Coroner Sunday morning.
The three others in the car were transported to an area hospital, Lee said. Their conditions were not released.
The Highway Patrol reported the investigation is continuing.
