New Korean restaurant with bakery planned for Columbia
A group that already has Korean restaurants in Columbia and Charlotte is set to open a new capital city location in 2022.
The company that operates Columbia’s 929 Kitchen & Bar on Gervais Street, and also has MOA Korean BBQ & Bar in Charlotte, is planning another restaurant in Columbia.
The coming restaurant was announced Dec. 23 on 929 Kitchen’s Facebook and Instagram pages. The new restaurant will be “carrying over a similar concept from MOA Korean BBQ & Bar” in Charlotte, per the posts. The address of the new Columbia location was not disclosed, but 929 Kitchen said in responses on social media that it might be released in the next few weeks.
Some details of the coming restaurant were shared, including that it will have 6,500 square feet of space and up to 265 seats. The company touts that it will have “the same top notch meat quality as MOA” and that it will have an in-store cafe and bakery.
The existing 929 Kitchen and MOA Korean BBQ will continue to operate in their current locations, the company said.
Since opening in 2018, 929 Kitchen & Bar has proven to be a popular destination in Columbia’s Vista nightlife and entertainment district, specializing in authentic Korean offerings with a modern flair.
