A new addition to the Main Street District in downtown Columbia will give parents an opportunity to get an early look at the new additions to their families, and perhaps pick up some items they may need along the way.

Sneak a Peek Boutique, an ultrasound studio and baby and maternity products store, recently opened at 1113 Taylor St. That is just off Main Street, behind the Mast General Store. The boutique will have a grand opening event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, with refreshments, discounts on items and more.

The boutique offers 2D, 3D and 4D elective ultrasounds in packages ranging from $50 to $150 — for expectant parents, as well as gender reveal packages. The ultrasounds are performed by trained sonographers but are non-diagnostic in nature. The boutique makes clear on its website that the ultrasounds are for entertainment purposes and not a substitute for a doctor’s appointment. Sneak a Peek stresses that friends and family are welcome to attend the ultrasounds.

Sneak a Peek owner Sheena Vaccaro told The State she wants the business to be a multi-faceted hub where expectant mothers and their loved ones can find joy in their growing families and pick up pregnancy- and baby-related items.

“I wanted to do a cute maternity boutique where you can get great gift registry items, maternity items, baby shower gifts and products for infants from ages zero to 12 months,” said Vaccaro, who is a nurse practitioner. “Just a one-stop shop for anything pregnancy, and you can bring your family and your friends and have a viewing room and make it a fun experience.”

The Taylor Street shop carries trendy maternity clothing, baby clothing, gender reveal party supplies, prenatal and post-natal care products, and a host of baby-related offerings, from diaper bags to stroller covers to teethers and beyond.

Sneak a Peek is the latest offering in a downtown Main Street District that has seen a significant revival in the last several years. The once-fading corridor is now dotted with restaurants, boutiques, bars, a movie theater, hotels, apartments and more.

Store manager Melissa Perryman said she’s pleased for Sneak a Peek to be a new part of the revitalized district. She noted there is plenty of parking in the nearby Taylor Street garage and that she expects good foot traffic from events like the weekly Soda City Market.

“The Mast General Store is right here, there are new restaurants coming in, and there are several restaurants right around the corner,” Perryman said. “It’s a great thing.”
