Ice cream shop gets wrath from anti-flag patrons

The new owners of a South Carolina ice cream shop say they’re bearing the brunt of angry but misdirected messages because of a Confederate battle flag in front of their business.

The (Orangeburg) Times and Democrat reported the flagpole is on a tiny parcel deeded by the property’s previous owner to a chapter of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. Buzz Braxton of the group’s Rivers Bridge Camp chapter declined comment.

Tommy and Debbie Daras said they paid little attention to the Confederate flag before opening Edisto River Creamery two months ago. The Maryland natives said now they and their employees have received threats.

Graham again calls for flag’s removal

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday agreed that the Confederate flag should be moved from the State House grounds.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Graham called the flag’s public placement as a “roadblock” for the state.

“My state will never be able to move forward after this shooting until we take this flag down,” he told host Chuck Todd.
