A new pizza and Italian ice spot has opened in the Midlands. Here’s where it is
There’s a new spot for pizza and more in West Columbia.
Cucinella’s Pizzeria and Italian Ice recently opened at 2250 Sunset Blvd. suite M in West Columbia. That’s in a shopping center that includes a Food Lion grocery store, among other offerings. The location is just east of Interstate 26, not far from the Lexington Medical Center.
It’s along a busy thoroughfare, as state Department of Transportation data indicate about 26,200 cars per day travel down that stretch of Sunset.
The pizzeria is in the spot that was previously occupied by a Carolina Cafe location.
Cucinella’s menu boasts a host of pizzas on New York-style thin crusts or gluten-free cauliflower crusts. Customers can customize their pies with traditional toppings or explore some of the shop’s specialty pies. The list of specialty pies includes, among others, the Flamethrower (marinara, mozzarella, bacon, hot cherry peppers, fresh jalapeno, hot honey and red pepper) and the Uncle Paulie (marinara, mozzarella, sliced meatballs, roasted red peppers, fresh basil and hot honey).
The restaurant also offers stromboli, calzones, salads, garlic knots and more.
And for those with a sweet tooth, Cucinella’s has house-made, hand-scooped Italian ice and gelato. Italian ice flavors include lemon, cherry, strawberry, mango, pineapple, blueberry, blackberry, peanut butter and cookies-and-cream.
