3 seek Cayce City Council post

Three candidates are running to fill a vacancy on Cayce City Council.

The list includes former Lexington 2 School Board member Phil Carter, business executive and music teacher Alex Mowery and city Planning Commission member John Raley.

Filing for the race ended Monday.

The winner of the nonpartisan contest at a Sept. 15 ballot will serve three years representing District 4, an area on the south side of the city of 13,000 residents.

Former Councilman Tim James resigned to take a job in Florida.
