Lexington boat manufacturer plans multimillion-dollar expansion, new jobs
A Lexington pontoon boat manufacturing company is expanding its operations and adding more jobs.
According to a Wednesday statement from S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster’s office, Bentley Pontoons, which is located at 1650 Two Notch Road in Lexington, is doing a $5.9 million expansion that will lead to 50 new jobs.
Per the release, Bentley Pontoons manufactures pontoon boats and makes many of its own boat components, including furniture, canvas work, tubes and fence railing. The expansion is needed to increase capacity because of high demand. The expansion is expected to be completed in June.
“Bentley Pontoons is thrilled to be expanding operations in South Carolina and greatly appreciates the support from the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the Lexington County Department of Economic Development through this entire process,” Bentley President Ryan Marcott said in a statement.
Those interested in working for Bentley Pontoons can visit the company’s contact page on its website.
South Carolina has long been known for its natural resources and boating recreation. The Republican McMaster noted Bentley is a good fit in the state’s economic development profile.
“South Carolina’s boating industry has a massive economic impact on our state, and with Bentley Pontoons’ announcement — and others like it — that impact will only continue to grow,” the governor said in a release. “We are proud to have a homegrown company like Bentley Pontoons on our team and look forward to their success for many more years to come.”
W. Keller Kissam, chairman of the Central SC Alliance public-private economic development organization, also nodded at Lexington’s rich natural resources and how the county is a match for Bentley’s mission.
“As a boater’s paradise that’s home to the Jewel of South Carolina, Lake Murray, Lexington is a great fit for the company,” Kissam said in a statement.
