Tuesday storms knock out power in Midlands

A line of thunderstorms swept through the Midlands Tuesday afternoon causing widespread power outages. At one point, an estimated 8,000 customers in Richland and Lexington Counties were affected.

By 9:40 pm, SCE&G reported power restored to all but an estimated 800 Richland and Lexington County customers.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Northeast South Carolina until 10 pm.
