We’re down to 2. Vote in the final round of our grocery store bracket today

And then there were two.

The final round of The State’s 2022 Grocery Store Bracket has arrived, and the readers have selected their top two favorites in the Midlands: Publix and The Fresh Market. Now the time has arrived to select a champion.

The grocery store bracket began with 16 grocers selected by The State’s staff. Readers then voted to whittle the field down to eight, then four, and now only two remain.

Publix has received the most votes in each of the first three rounds. The chain that was founded in Florida 92 years ago has nearly 1,300 stores nationwide, including 64 in South Carolina. It employs more than 225,000 people across the U.S.

The Fresh Market, meanwhile, rallied past Trader Joe’s and Lowes Foods to finish second in Round 3. The Fresh Market was founded in North Carolina in 1982, and now has more than 150 locations across 22 states.

You have until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday March 16, to cast votes in Round 4, the Tasty 2. We’ll announce the winner on March 21.
