You’re in luck! Here are 5 events to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Columbia this week
Get ready to go green.
St. Patrick’s Day is on Thursday but the Columbia area has multiple events and activities slated to celebrate the holiday several days this week. And with weather expected to be fairly pleasant and the concerns about COVID-19 waning, plan to get tickets soon and arrive early to beat the crowds.
Below are five ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the area.

Steel Hands’ website states it’s the largest production brewery in the Midlands with 900 barrels of fermentation capacity in its brewhouse. The brewery runs a 30 barrel, fully automated brewhouse.

It’s the big return of the St. Pat’s in Five Points festival, which was sidelined in 2020 and 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The St. Pat’s bash, which will be on Saturday, is perhaps the foremost festival on Columbia’s calendar, routinely drawing as many as 40,000 revelers to the village.
There will be two headliners for the event: the Grammy-winning Blues Traveler, a mainstay of 1990s radio, and Surfaces, a Texas-based pop act that has collaborated with Elton John, among others. In all, 23 musical acts are set to appear at this year’s St. Pat’s bash.
Blues Traveler had two platinum-selling and three gold-selling albums in the 1990s, highlighted by 1994’s “Four,” which sold more than 6 million copies and helped nab the group a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group. That album included the ubiquitous singles “Run-Around” and “Hook.” The group has continued to record and tour and has released 14 studio albums.
Surfaces, based out of College Station, Texas, debuted in 2017. The video for their catchy 2019 single “Sunday Best” has been viewed 126 million times on YouTube. The group is comprised of singer/songwriters Forrest Frank and Colin Padalecki.
