Got a favorite Midlands pizza spot? Vote today in Round 2 of our bracket: The Saucy 16
Just like a pizza fresh out of the oven, our bracket field has been sliced.
Readers cast their votes in the first round of The State’s 2022 Pizza Bracket, identifying some of their favorite pizzerias in the Midlands. The field started with 32 spots selected by The State’s staff, then readers chose the top 16 out of that initial group.
The voters leaned heavily toward locally owned spots in the first round of voting, though at least one national brand — Mellow Mushroom — was among the leading vote-getters.
Now we are asking readers to whittle the field down again by selecting their top eight favorites out of the remaining field in the poll below. This is certainly not a scientific or all-encompassing poll, but we know readers have strong feelings when it comes to that perfect combination of dough, sauce and cheese.
You have until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, April 9, to cast votes in Round 2, the Saucy 16. Then look for Round 3, the Extra Cheese Eight, beginning Monday, April 11.
So cast your votes, and don’t forget the crushed red pepper.
