Columbia unveils parking, road closures for Gamecocks women’s basketball victory parade
Columbia has revealed parking and road closure plans for the Gamecocks women’s basketball victory parade next week.
According to a Friday city press release, parking will be prohibited and towing will be enforced on multiple blocks downtown during the parade. Also, several streets will be closed in the hours leading up to the parade.
The city announced earlier this week that the parade would be held on Main Street at 6 p.m. on Wednesday to celebrate the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team’s 2022 National Championship win. The parade will start downtown and end at the State House with speeches and other fanfare.
The city’s parking services ambassadors will be in contact with merchants of Main Street in the coming days to discuss plans for the parade and answer any questions they have regarding parking arrangements on Wednesday.
Below are a list of parking rules for the parade and the blocks where they apply.
Wednesday meter bagging begins a 9 a.m.
No parking after 2 p.m. Towing enforced
- 1700, 1800, 1900 Main Street
- 1100 and 1200 Richland
- 1100 and 1200 Laurel
No parking after 3 p.m. Towing enforced
- 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600 Main Street
- 1100, 1200 Gervais
- 1100 Assembly
- 1000, 1100 Sumter
- 1200 Pendleton
- 1300, 1400 Senate
- 1000, 1100 Marion

- Lady Deck at 1100 Lady Street — No public parking
- Washington Deck at 1100 Washington — Free public parking
- Cannon Deck at 1227 Taylor Street — Free public parking
- Sumter Deck at 1415 Sumter Street — Standard parking rates
- Taylor Deck at 1101 Taylor Street — Free public parking
- Lincoln Deck at 820 Washington — Standard parking rates
- Park Street Deck at 1007 Park Street — Free public parking, shuttle stop 5-9 p.m.

Note: Roads will re-open once the parade has ended and clean-up is completed.
