SC State student Amya Carr dies, university announces

A South Carolina State student and dance team member has died, the university announced on Wednesday.

According to a university statement, SC State joins the family of student Amya Carr in mourning her passing.

Carr was a senior majoring in communications and was a member of SC State’s dance team, the Champagne Dancers.

“The SC State campus community offers Amya’s family our deepest condolences,” the statement reads.

Details on how or where Carr died were not provided. Services and a campus remembrance will be announced at a later date.
