USC police investigating two armed robberies by men in ski masks near Columbia campus
Columbia police are investigating two armed robberies Friday night by three men near the University of South Carolina campus.
No injuries were reported, a spokesperson for USC said.
Officials with USC said three men wearing ski masks and armed robbed people at about 11:30 p.m. The robberies occurred “around Russell House and Senate Plaza,” USC police said in a statement.
The Russell House is USC’s student union at 1400 Greene St, and Senate Plaza is an apartment building at 1520 Senate St.
The two buildings are about half a mile apart. Between them is the Horseshoe and the portion of campus beyond a prominent pedestrian bridge over Pickens Street.
Police canvassed the areas of the robberies but said they did not find the robbers. Police said the robbers likely left the areas shortly after the robbery.
The USC Police Department said Friday night that “an armed robbery occurred around Russell House and Senate Plaza.” After asking for clarification on details a USC spokesperson said two robberies occurred, one near Russell House and another near Senate Plaza.
The Columbia Police Department is investigating the robberies with campus police.
