This luxurious, million-dollar, historic SC estate is set for auction soon. Have a look
If you want to live in an extravagant piece of South Carolina history and have about $1 million to spend, next week could be your chance.
The historic Cedar Knoll Estate in Camden is set for auction at 9 a.m. on Monday, according to a press release from Interluxe, an online luxury real estate marketplace.
Previously listed for $1.9 million, the bidding will start at $700,000 at interluxe.com for the property, located at 602 Greene Street.
Known locally as the Cedar Knoll Estate, this more than 4-acre property has been renovated to include modern updates, but still show its historic character, an Interluxe press release states. The home was built in the 1830s and maintains the grandeur of Southern architecture — from its two-story, columned porch to its spacious foyer with a mahogany staircase.
The 7,600 square-foot main house boasts six bedrooms, including two masters, six full bathrooms and two half baths. The first floor features large living ares, including a grand dining room with a separate seating area and a library called the Pecky Cypress room.
The downstairs sitting room with an attached full bath can be converted into a first-floor master bedroom.
Other notable features include a chef’s kitchen with a butler’s pantry, an elevator and a 1,200-bottle wine cellar.
More modern features include a saltwater pool installed two years ago that has an expansive deck that can accommodate 200 guests and a large parking pad with a circular drive that can hold 100 cars.
Also, the property features the Midlands’ largest formal garden, complete with a Boxwood Parterre garden, mature azaleas throughout and a camelia-lined drive, the press release states.
The property also includes a two-bedroom, two-bath cottage for extended guests or for potential rental income.
Previews of the estate for prospective buyers and representatives will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
