Dying to pie Columbia’s mayor in the face? Here’s your chance
Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann’s face may be wearing more than a grin soon.
Rickenmann is one of three Midlands mayors who have signed up to get a pie in the face for charity at The Final Table’s Food and Fun Outdoor Expo.
The event happens April 30 in Columbia at Boyd Plaza, 1515 Main St., starting at 10 a.m. The pieing starts at 10:45 a.m.
Rickenmann, along with West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles and Blythewood Mayor Bryan Franklin, put their faces on the line for the “Mayor Pie in the Face Challenge.”
Each mayor has named a charity for the challenge. People can donate to the charities in any of the mayors’ names through the food and fun expo’s event page. Whichever mayor gets the most donations gets a pie in the face.
Rickenmann’s charity is Building Better Communities, a group that works for better youth outcomes, reducing gun and gang violence and bridging the gap between police and communities.
Miles’ charity is Keep the Midlands Beautiful, which promotes litter cleanup and recycling as well as organizes beautification projects like planting flowers and plants.
Franklin’s charity is Christian Assistance Bridge, a food pantry and assistance organization.
The expo will also feature music by country star Cody Webb, a book signing by Food Network Kitchen Chef and author Virginia Willis, biscuit sampling, food trucks and family-friendly exhibits, the organizers said.
WCOS’s Jonathon Rush will emcee the expo.
